The Vinohrady Christmas market on Namesti Miru is Prague's most local-feeling Advent stop, in front of the neo-Gothic church. Mulled wine, Czech Christmas cookies, less of the tourist scrum.

Holesovice Market is Prague's largest year-round market, inside an old slaughterhouse complex on the Vltava bend. Hall 22 holds the food stalls: Czech farmers, fish, mushrooms, herbs.

Sapa, on Prague's southern edge, is the largest Vietnamese market outside Vietnam. A warehouse complex with around 200 vendors, plus the city's best banh mi, bun cha and pho.

Tip: Take metro B to Smichov, then bus 198 to Libus; eat at Pho Tung first.

Manifesto Market Smichov is a permanent open-air food yard near Andel, with twenty-plus food stalls, four bars and a live-music slot in summer. Cashless across the whole site.

Tip: The natural wine bar at the back is the smartest pour; weekends are loud.

Manifesto Florenc is the original of the chain, a shipping-container food yard near the central bus station. Twenty-plus stalls of street food, Czech klobasa to Vietnamese banh mi.
