For the Mid-Autumn Festival, District 5's Luong Nhu Hoc lantern street and stalls across the city fill with baked and sticky mooncakes in sweet and savoury flavours, lion dances and lantern parades.
Tet, the Lunar New Year, is Vietnam's biggest holiday, when Nguyen Hue turns into a flower street and families eat banh tet, candied fruits and braised pork with egg. Many small stalls close for the week.
