What is in season in Salou. and what to order when the market changes.

Spring

  • Calçots, to the end of the season: Calçots peak in February and March, the heart of the calçotada season inland around Valls that runs from November to April, grilled and dipped in romesco.
  • Rice days: Salou's rice days, "Per a gustos, els arrossos", fill restaurant menus in spring; the 2026 edition ran from 24 April to 24 May in 22 restaurants.

Summer

  • Seafront terraces and Sant Pere: Summer is the season of the port terraces and beach bars; the Calada de les Malles, Salou's old shore-net fishing, is staged several times a year, above all on Sant Pere, the fishermen's patron day.
  • Sabor Salou in late May: The Sabor Salou street food market opens the warm season on Passeig Jaume I over a weekend in late May, with 56 stands of tapas, rice and local wine in 2026.

Autumn

  • Squid: Late autumn is squid time: the Festa del Calamar runs a fishing contest and a public tasting in late November, and restaurants serve squid menus into December.
  • Tasta Salou and Salouween: The Thursday Tasta Salou route returns in autumn, and Salouween Street brings food trucks and restaurant stands to Passeig Jaume I around Halloween.

Winter

  • Christmas vermouth: Fem el Vermut a Salou pours regional vermouth with a festive tapa at midday in the run-up to Christmas, about 25 venues taking part in recent editions.
  • Calçotada season: Calçots, grilled over vine shoots and dipped in romesco, are the winter feast inland, with the Gran Festa de la Calçotada in Valls on the last Sunday of January.
