The three peninsulas of Halkidiki offer seafood tavernas ranging from simple beach-side fish restaurants to more ambitious kitchens. The first peninsula (Kassandra) is the most accessible from Thessaloniki. The village of Neos Marmaras on the second peninsula (Sithonia) has the best concentration of quality fish restaurants. Halkidiki octopus, sea urchin in season, and locally farmed sea bass are the draws.
