Naoussa Wine Country ★ 4.7
The Naoussa PDO zone west of Thessaloniki is the most important red wine appellation in Greece, producing Xinomavro from an indigenous variety that resembles Nebbiolo in its tannin structure and ageing capacity. Visit Kir-Yianni, Boutari, or Thymiopoulos estates for guided tastings; the town of Naoussa itself has good tavernas for lunch. September harvest visits include vineyard walks.
