Edible Schoolyard Project Public Programs
Alice Waters founded the Edible Schoolyard Project at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Berkeley in 1995, integrating kitchen and garden education into the public school curriculum. The program runs public tours of the school garden and kitchen classroom and periodic community workshops on seasonal cooking, composting and food systems. Workshops are free or low-cost; advance registration required. A meaningful way to engage with the roots of Berkeley food education.
