Mercat de l'Olivar ★ 4.7

Mercat de l'Olivar is Palma's main covered market off Plaça d'Espanya, with fish, meat and produce below and a gastronomic floor of bars above.

Go for: Fresh fish, Market tapas, Sobrassada

Tip: The gastronomic floor upstairs runs bars, restaurants and ready meals until 16:00, after the fish counters have wound down.

Mercat de Santa Catalina ★ 4.6

Mon-Sat 07:00-17:00; closed Sunsanta-catalina

Mercat de Santa Catalina is Palma's best-known food market, a hall in the old fishing district where produce stalls sit beside wine and tapas counters.

Go for: Tapas and wine, Fresh fish, Cheese

Tip: Go before 11:00 for the market proper. From noon it turns into a wine-and-tapas crowd.

Mercat de Pere Garau ★ 4.3

Mon, Wed 07:00-14:30; Tue, Thu 07:00-15:00; Sat 07:00-16:00

Mercat de Pere Garau is Palma's working neighbourhood market, an indoor hall with outdoor stalls three days a week and live seafood tanks inside.

Go for: Live seafood, Latin American produce, Cheap lunch

Tip: Outdoor stalls run Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Saturday is the biggest of the three.

Mercat de Llevant ★ 4.0

Mon-Sat 07:00-14:30; closed Sun

Mercat de Llevant is a small municipal market on Carrer de Manuel Azaña in Palma, serving the eastern neighbourhoods with produce, butchers and bakers.

Go for: Produce, Butchers, Bread

Tip: A local market with no tourist trade at all. Mornings only, and it shuts at 14:30.

Mercat Agroecològic ★ 4.2

Tue, Sat 08:00-14:00casco-antiguo

The Mercat Agroecològic sets up on Plaça del Bisbe Berenguer de Palou in Palma twice a week, selling certified organic produce from island growers.

Go for: Organic produce, Island growers, Seasonal fruit

Tip: Tuesday and Saturday mornings only. This is where Palma's organic growers sell direct.
