Wrocław's Christmas market fills the Rynek through Advent: 100 stalls of hot wine, grilled sausage, pierogi off the iron, and gingerbread. One of Poland's most popular markets.

Tip: Open well into the evening; the lights are best from 17:00 onwards in December.

Order: Whichever street-food stall has the longest queue, paired with a craft beer from the bar.
Tip: Friday-Saturday evenings turn into the live music programme; weekday early evenings are easier for seats.

Hala Targowa on Piaskowa is Wrocław's century-old market hall, built 1906-1908 as Breslauer Markthalle Nr 1. Two-level structure with ground-floor produce and meat, upstairs eateries and specialty shops.
Order: Fresh oscypek smoked sheep cheese from a Tatra stall, plus rye bread from the Enklawa cafe inside.
Tip: Sundays the hall closes; weekday mornings shortly after 08:00 are the freshest stalls.
