  1. Day 1: Saturday: bicerin morning, Quadrilatero lunch, Del Cambio dinner

    Caffe Al Bicerin on Piazza della Consolata at 09:00 for the layered coffee-chocolate-cream ritual since 1763. Walk through the Quadrilatero to Porta Palazzo for the morning market.
    Afternoon
    Lunch at Consorzio in the Quadrilatero: agnolotti del plin, finanziera ravioli, a glass of Roero Arneis. Walk to Perino Vesco on Via Cavour for an afternoon focaccia.
    Evening
    Dinner at Del Cambio on Piazza Carignano from 19:30. Diego Giglio's one-star Piedmontese tasting, Bar Cavour upstairs after for a Negroni.
  2. Day 2: Sunday: cafe brunch, Eataly afternoon, San Salvario aperitivo

    Morning
    Caffe Baratti & Milano on Piazza Castello at 09:30 for cappuccino, cornetto and a gianduiotto on the saucer. Walk Via Roma to Stratta on Piazza San Carlo for a marron glace.
    Afternoon
    Tram to Lingotto for Eataly Torino, the world's first store. Lunch at counters inside Eataly, espresso and pastries on the floor.
    Evening
    Aperitivo at Affini in San Salvario from 18:30 (house vermouth on tap), late dinner at Scannabue on Largo Saluzzo.

Turin chocolate: three days for the gianduiotto pilgrim ★ 4.6

Chocolate-focused traveller, three days3 days

Three days organised around Turin's chocolate heritage: gianduiotto, bicerin, Caffarel, Guido Gobino, plus CioccolaTo in February for those who time it right.

  1. Day 1: Centro chocolate cafes and patisseries

    Morning
    Caffe Al Bicerin at 09:00 for bicerin and a small gianduiotto. Walk to Stratta on Piazza San Carlo for marron glace and a pasta di mandorle.
    Afternoon
    Lunch at Le Vitel Etonne, then walk Via Po to Pepino on Piazza Carignano for a Pinguino. Visit Pfatisch on Via Sacchi for the Liberty patisserie rooms.
    Evening

    Lunch at Condividere in the Nuvola Lavazza (Ferran Adria concept), then visit Eataly Lingotto.
    Evening
    Dinner at Cannavacciuolo Bistrot near Gran Madre, modern Italian with Campanian touches under one Michelin star.
  3. Day 3: Pessione and the vermouth-chocolate connection

    Train to Pessione for Casa Martini and a Discovery Tour of the historic vermouth plant. Return to Turin by 13:00.
    Afternoon
    Lunch at Pastificio Defilippis on Via Lagrange for agnolotti and a glass of Barbera. Afternoon at Caffe Mulassano for a tramezzino and an espresso.

Turin and the Langhe: a long-lunch wine country trip ★ 4.8

Four days from Turin into the Langhe and Monferrato: Alba for white truffle in autumn, Barolo for the Nebbiolo grand crus, Bra for the Slow Food HQ, and back for the city's last Piedmontese supper.

  1. Day 1: Turin grounding: market, trattoria, fine dining

  2. Day 2: Day trip to Alba and the white-truffle fair (Oct-Dec)

    Direct train Torino Porta Susa to Alba (1 hr 23 min). Walk to the Cortile della Maddalena for the World Truffle Market.
    Afternoon
    Lunch in Alba's medieval centre, tajarin al tartufo. Walk the streets of Alba.
    Evening
    Return train to Turin; dinner at L'Acino in the Quadrilatero, Bib Gourmand small room with traditional Piedmontese carte.
  3. Day 3: Barolo wine country and Bra for Slow Food

    Morning
    Drive (or train and taxi) to Barolo village, 70 km south of Turin. Tasting at the village castle, then drive to Bra (about 30 minutes north).
    Afternoon
    Slow Food HQ in Bra and a visit to the Universita di Scienze Gastronomiche in Pollenzo. Lunch in Bra.
    Evening
    Return to Turin; aperitivo at Affini San Salvario, walk-in late dinner at Banco Vini e Alimenti.
  4. Day 4: Asti and a last Turin Piedmontese supper

    Morning
    Train to Asti (55 minutes) for Monferrato wine and the Casa Cinzano heritage. Lunch in Asti at a Bagna Cauda Day participating osteria in season.
    Afternoon
    Return to Turin; afternoon stop at Guido Gobino for chocolate, then Caffe Al Bicerin for the bicerin farewell.
    Evening
    Dinner at La Limonaia in Pozzo Strada, Cesare Grandi's microclimatic Italian carte cooked on live fire.
