Shilin Night Market is Taiwan's largest, 500-plus stalls. Hot Star fried chicken, stinky tofu, ai yu jelly and the reopened underground food court.

Tip: Open 16:00-24:00 daily. Take MRT Tamsui-Xinyi to Jiantan Station, walk 5 minutes.

Ningxia Night Market ★ 4.5

Ningxia Night Market in Taipei is the city's most compact night market, a single one-block strip in Datong with five Michelin Bib Gourmand stalls.

Go for: Lu rou fan, Oyster omelette, Taro balls

Tip: Open 17:00-01:00 daily. MRT Shuanglian, Exit 1; 5-minute walk.

Nanmen Market ★ 4.5

Nanmen Market in Zhongzheng opposite CKS Memorial Hall, established 1907 under Japanese rule. Three floors of Shanghai, Sichuan and Zhejiang dried goods.

Go for: Shanghai dried goods, Lunar New Year, Cured meat

Tip: Closed Mondays. The building reopened 2023 after a four-year rebuild; fully air-conditioned.

Shida Night Market ★ 4.0

Shida Night Market in Da'an is the night market beside National Taiwan Normal University. Student-priced eats, hand-pulled noodles, bubble tea cluster.

Go for: Student eats, Bubble tea, Hand-pulled noodles

Tip: Open 17:00-24:00 daily. MRT Taipower Building, Exit 3 Mornings are quietest.
