Many of the Bazar Vest food stalls serve naturally gluten-free dishes: rice-based Middle Eastern and Asian preparations, grilled meats and vegetable dishes. The bolani potato pastry uses wheat flour; the hummus and grilled dishes are safe.
The Palestinian-run falafel counter is inherently halal. No meat is served and the kitchen is run by the Faour family to halal standards. The falafel, hummus and wraps are all permissible.
The majority of the meat stalls at Bazar Vest are certified halal butchers, and the cooked food stalls serving Turkish, Somali and Afghan food use halal-slaughtered meat throughout. The market is one of the most reliably halal food destinations in Jutland.
A halal grill near the university serving shawarma, grilled chicken and kebab plates. Halal-certified meat throughout; the hummus and tabbouleh are freshly made.
Aarhus has no dedicated kosher restaurant. The Jewish community centre can advise on kosher catering for events and occasionally hosts community meals. Visitors requiring strict kosher should plan with the community in advance or bring food from Copenhagen.
Aarhus's dedicated organic vegan cafe with grain bowls, raw cakes and plant-based lunch plates. Everything on the menu is vegan and certified organic.
