Tipat is the Balinese word for ketupat, and cantok means grinding in a mortar, which describes how the peanut sauce is made to order. The dish is akin to Javanese pecel and Jakarta's gado-gado, and in Bali the sauce is sharpened with petis, lime and kencur. It is a common street food, sold in Denpasar warungs from about IDR 8,000 to 15,000. Warung Dot Lalah serves a version with noodles, tipat cantok mie, and Art Cafe Bumbu Bali lists ketipat cantok on its vegetarian rijsttafel.
