The Aarhus Jazz Festival in late June and early July brings an open-air food programme to city centre venues, with local restaurant pop-ups, food stalls and the city's bars running extended hours and special cocktail menus to coincide with the music.
Scandinavia's largest food festival runs three days at Tangkrogen on the Aarhus bay in early September. More than 350 exhibitors, 50 restaurants and live chef demonstrations make it the most concentrated food event in the Nordic region. The 2026 edition runs 4-6 September.
The annual Aarhus craft beer festival at the Godsbanen cultural centre brings together 75 Danish and international craft breweries for a two-day tasting event. The 2026 edition runs 23-24 October. Unlimited tastings with a festival glass included in entry.
The Northside music festival runs one of Denmark's most ambitious festival food programmes, with local Aarhus restaurants and national chefs setting up kitchens across the Eskelund site for three days in early June. Past participants include Substans and Domestic.
The annual Christmas market on Store Torv runs from late November to Christmas Eve with stalls selling glogg, æbleskiver, risalamande and smoked meats. Free to enter; the food stalls are the social heart of December in Aarhus.
Each October the wild oyster season opens on the Djursland coast and local restaurants and oyster farms mark the occasion with open days, tasting events and guided harvest walks. The tradition is informal; Aarhus restaurants run Djursland oyster specials concurrently.
