    Morning
    Suarez Bakery and Barra at Optimist Hall for a cafe cubano and an apple fritter at 10:00. Browse the food-hall vendors and pick up a coffee from Undercurrent.
    Afternoon
    Lunch at Lang Van on Shamrock Drive for the Michelin-Bib-Gourmand pho. Then head north to NoDa for an afternoon at NoDa Brewing for a Hop Drop 'N Roll IPA and Birdsong Brewing for a Jalapeno Pale Ale.
    Evening
    Counter- at 18:30 in west Charlotte for the multi-course tasting menu and Michelin Green Star sustainability programme. Book a few weeks ahead on Tock.
  2. Day 2: Sunday: Amelie's brunch, market, Supperland dinner

    Morning
    Amelie's French Bakery on East 36th Street for an almond croissant and coffee at 08:00. Walk the NoDa main strip on N Davidson.
    Afternoon
    Brunch at Haberdish at 11:00 for fried chicken with buttermilk biscuits and pimento cheese, then walk the NoDa main strip and shops.
    Evening
    Supperland in Plaza Midwood at 19:00 for the modern Southern hearth menu and a cocktail by Michelin Exceptional Cocktails 2025 winner Colleen Hughes.

Charlotte BBQ trail day: Belmont, Sweet Lew's, Lexington ★ 4.5

BBQ lover, one day1 day

A single Charlotte BBQ day pivoting from Sweet Lew's BBQ in Belmont to a midday drive 60 miles north on I-85 to Lexington Barbecue (Honey Monk's), the 1962 canonical Piedmont-style chopped pork.

  1. Day 1: Carolina BBQ day, Belmont and Lexington

    Morning
    Sweet Lew's BBQ on Belmont Avenue at 11:00 for a two-meat plate of pork shoulder and brisket. Get there before noon for the best meat selection.
    Afternoon
    Drive north on I-85 to Lexington, NC. Late lunch at Lexington Barbecue at 100 Smokehouse Lane around 14:00, for the canonical Piedmont chopped-pork plate with red slaw and hush puppies.
    Evening
    Drive back to Charlotte. Dinner at Haberdish on N Davidson at 19:00 for the chicken-and-biscuits plate that completes the Southern day.
