A weekend built around bryndzove halusky, Pressburg cafes, modern Slovak fine dining at Irin or Colette, and the Small Carpathian wine cellars on the way out of town.

  1. Day 1: Saturday: Old Town halusky, Pressburg cocktails, modern Slovak dinner

    Stara Trznica Saturday farmer market 09:00-11:00 for Slovak cheese and bryndza. Then walk to Fach Bistro on Venturska 10 for sourdough breakfast and pour-over coffee.
    Afternoon
    Lunch at Slovak Pub on Obchodna 62, the canonical halusky with bacon and ostiepok. Walk up to the castle past Modra Hviezda on Beblaveho 14 for an afternoon glass.
    Evening
    Dinner at Irin on Rudnayovo namestie 2 behind St Martin's Cathedral, the nine-course modern Slovak tasting. Nightcap at Michalska Cocktail Room behind the wardrobe at Urban Bistro.
  2. Day 2: Sunday: Pressburg cafe, brunch, late dinner with a view

    Morning
    Pastry breakfast at Konditorei Kormuth on Sedlarska 363, the painted-ceiling salon with hot chocolate and layered cakes. Then Bratislavske rozky to take.
    Afternoon
    Sunday brunch at RIVERBANK inside Grand Hotel River Park on Dvorakovo nabrezie 6, the city's most ambitious brunch with a Slovak cheese station and Danube view.
    Evening
    Dinner at UFO watch.taste.groove on Most SNP bridge at 95 metres, the panoramic modern European table. Late cocktail at Sky Bar on Hviezdoslavovo 7.

Bratislava and the Small Carpathian wine route ★ 4.8

Wine lover, three days3 days

Three days threading Bratislava's wine bars with day trips to Svaty Jur, Modra and Pezinok for the Small Carpathian cellar circuit, capped with a vineyard tasting above Devin Castle.

  1. Day 1: Day 1: Old Town wine bars and Pressburg cuisine

    Morning
    Breakfast at Stur Cafe on Sturova 8 with specialty filter coffee. Walk Hviezdoslavovo namestie and the riverbank.
    Afternoon
    Lunch at Zylinder on Hviezdoslavovo 19, Pressburg goulash and Bratislava rolls. Afternoon at Vinoteka pri Modrom kostoliku tasting Frankovka modra.
    Evening
    Dinner at Colette on Krizna 8, the Carte Blanche French tasting. Late wine at Drak and Finch on Mikulasska 1B.
  2. Day 2: Day 2: Pezinok to Modra to Svaty Jur cellar circuit

    Morning
    Hourly train from Bratislava main station to Pezinok for the wine museum cellar at the chateau. Walk the Pezinok cellar circuit in the historic town centre.
    Afternoon
    Bus from Pezinok to Modra to tour the Vinohrady cellars and ceramics workshops. Light lunch at a Modra wine-tavern.
    Evening
    Train from Modra to Svaty Jur (15 minutes). Dinner at ARTE Restaurant at Palffy Manor on Prostredna 49, the ten-course tasting from 18:00 (Thursday to Saturday only). Train back to Bratislava after dinner.
  3. Day 3: Day 3: Devin Castle vineyard tasting and back to the city

    Morning
    Bus 28 or 29 from Most SNP to Devin. Walk Devin Castle ruins above the Danube-Morava confluence and try Devinsky Ribezliak currant wine at the riverbank.
    Afternoon
    Lunch and tasting at ECK Restaurant on K zlatemu rohu 36 above the Devin vineyards, the six-course seasonal tasting with vineyard view.
    Evening
    Bus back to Bratislava. Final dinner at Albrecht on Mudronova 82 with the winter-terrace seat and Small Carpathian wine pairing.
